The story of Ember & Wit begins years before our first candle was made.
Around 2020, one of our favorite soaps was discontinued. We did what any reasonable people would do and bought as much as we could on clearance. After years of careful conservation, we eventually ran out. In 2024, when that happened, we became eager to bring that scent home again. So we started making candles. Early on, we realized this hobby could turn into something bigger, but life and family took priority. We continued to make, learn, and test countless combinations of fragrance, wicks, containers, and wax. By summer 2026, we were ready to launch Ember & Wit.
We are a small, husband-and-wife business. The "Wit" reflects our love for puns, dad jokes, and funny names that make us laugh. My wife, less amused by puns, has officially banned some of my favorites from the house. Our humor plays a big role at Ember & Wit, giving our products personality. We hope our names give you a chuckle, or at least a good eye roll, before you experience the scent.
We have always enjoyed exploring breweries, trying new things, and relaxing with a deck of cards. The creativity, community, conversations, and unique label designs inspired us. We aim to bring that sense of discovery to fragrances with unexpected names, distinct designs, engaging stories, and products with personality.
We prefer fragrances you can actually smell. Our goal isn't overpowering scents but filling a space with a candle. That's why we choose our coconut-paraffin blended wax, fragrances, and materials. We've tested extensively, adjusted, burned, and tested again. We prioritize performance, quality, and safety. We do not take for granted the trust you place in us when you burn or use our products in your home.
Ultimately, we're still the two people who started making candles because we missed a scent. We love hearing what our customers think, whether it's your favorite scents, product names, or suggestions for new scent combinations.
